My experience in Yuma, Arizona

Week 5 in March

I'm starting a blog because I want to record my memories and of course let the whole world know that I'm having a good time eventhough I don't post pictures. Well I'm not the type to post pictures basically, you could check both my facebook and instagram I don't post often if in Malaysia.

I'm currently an exchange student living in Yuma,Arizona. I'm under a program called the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program. This program is currently funded by the Department of State,United States of America. The purpose of this program is to create a bridge of understanding between the United States of America and countries with significant muslim population after the events of 9/11. It is a great program but I feel sad that not many people in my town or area know much about it. I wish that more people would apply for this program especially the juniors from my school and hopefully they have the same chance as me.

Yuma is a very different place than the other places in America. It's hot yes but I feel the heat is the same as in Malaysia except there is no humidity at all here which is good because you don't sweat at all! But you can still feel the sweat forming but because of the dry weather you don't feel the sweat. It either dries up or it is absorbed. Honestly I have no idea. I always joke with my friends that we skipped Spring because it feels like Summer. My place is just at the border of Mexico and California. Yes we live so near to Mexico but I have not been there yet. If I have time, I'll post pics about my area and how Arizona looks like. It certainly looks different in real life than in pictures.

I go to school which has about 1800 people. It is big for me of course because my school in Malaysia was only about 1200 people max? Sometimes I find it stressful especially when we have to switch classes because imagine 1800 people trying to switch classes? It's not that bad but I really don't like it. But thankfully we have 5 minutes to switch classes so I have never been late to class yet. I'm taking what is considered fun subjects like Sociology,Dance and Guitar. I have to take six classes besides these three classes which are U.S history and English Literature. I take child development too which is a really cool class because I get to handle preschool kids who are like 3-4 years which is really fun.

I shall blog  about individual posts soon
